Texas Data Broker Notice
Last updated April 19, 2026. Your rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and how to exercise them.
About this page
Tripwire Data is registered as a data broker with the Texas Secretary of State under Chapter 510 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code. This page explains the rights Texas residents have with respect to their personal data under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), Chapter 541 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, and how to exercise those rights.
If you are a Texas resident and believe Tripwire Data may hold information about you as an individual, this page tells you what you can request and how to submit that request.
Scope note
Much of the information in the Tripwire Data platform consists of business records and information drawn from government records, which is defined as “publicly available information” under §541.001 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and is expressly excluded from the definition of “personal data” under the TDPSA. The rights described below apply to personal data as defined by the TDPSA. Where your request involves information that falls outside that definition, we will explain that in our response. We honor every qualifying request in good faith.
Your rights under the TDPSA
Section 541.051(b) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code gives Texas residents the following rights with respect to their personal data:
1. Right to confirm and access. You may confirm whether Tripwire Data is processing your personal data and access that personal data.
2. Right to correct. You may request correction of inaccuracies in your personal data, taking into account the nature of the personal data and the purposes for which we process it.
3. Right to delete. You may request that we delete personal data provided by you or obtained about you.
4. Right to data portability. If your personal data is available in a digital format, you may obtain a copy of the personal data you previously provided to us in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format that allows you to transmit the data to another controller without hindrance.
5. Right to opt out. You may opt out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of a decision that produces a legal or similarly significant effect concerning you.
Who may exercise these rights
Texas residents. These rights are granted to consumers, which the TDPSA defines as individuals who are Texas residents acting in an individual or household context. The TDPSA does not cover individuals acting in a commercial or employment context.
Parents and legal guardians. A parent or legal guardian may exercise these rights on behalf of a known child (under 13).
Authorized agents. You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. We may require reasonable documentation verifying that the agent is authorized to act for you.
How to submit a request
To exercise any of the rights described on this page, send an email to info@tripwiredata.com.
Tripwire Data operates exclusively online. Consistent with §541.055 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, we accept privacy rights requests through email.
In your request, please include: (1) your first and last name; (2) a current email address or mailing address where we can reach you; (3) a statement that you are a Texas resident; (4) a description of which right(s) you wish to exercise (confirm/access, correct, delete, portability, or opt-out); and (5) enough detail to help us locate any information we may hold about you — for example, business names you have been associated with, prior addresses, or a phone number.
How we verify your identity. Because we need to make sure we are responding to the right person, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal data. We may ask you to confirm information already associated with the record or to provide additional identifying details. If we cannot verify your identity using commercially reasonable efforts, we may decline to act on the request and will inform you of that decision. Authenticated opt-out requests do not require the same level of identity verification as access or deletion requests.
When you’ll hear back from us
Initial response: within 45 days. We will respond to your authenticated request without undue delay, and in any event no later than 45 days after we receive it.
Extension: one additional 45 days. When reasonably necessary — for example, when a request is unusually complex or when we have received a high volume of requests — we may extend the response time by an additional 45 days. If we need to extend, we will tell you within the initial 45-day window and explain why.
Cost. We respond free of charge to requests submitted up to twice per 12-month period. If a request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the administrative cost of responding or decline to act on it. If we do, we will explain our reasoning.
If we can’t honor your request. If we decline a request in whole or in part, we will tell you why and explain how to appeal.
Appealing our decision
If we decline your request, you have the right to appeal under §541.053 of the Texas Business and Commerce Code.
How to appeal. Reply to the email in which we communicated our decision, or send a new email to info@tripwiredata.com with “Appeal” in the subject line. Include the original request reference number and explain why you believe our decision should be reconsidered.
Timing. We will respond to your appeal in writing within 60 days of receipt, explaining the outcome and the reasoning behind it.
If your appeal is denied. You may submit a complaint to the Texas Attorney General at any time, including after an appeal. See the next section for the complaint link.
Complaints to the Texas Attorney General
The Texas Attorney General has exclusive authority to enforce the TDPSA. If you believe we have not complied with the Act, you may submit a complaint to the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights described on this page. Exercising your rights will not affect the price, quality, or availability of any product or service we offer, and it will not trigger any unlawful adverse action against you.
