Tripwire Data ("Tripwire," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at TripwireData.com, create an Account, use our dashboard, access our API, or otherwise interact with our Service.
By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect two categories of information: (a) information you provide directly to us, and (b) information we collect automatically when you use the Service.
Information You Provide. When you create an Account, subscribe to a Plan, or contact us, we may collect: your name, email address, company name, phone number, billing address, payment information (processed through our third-party payment processor; we do not store full credit card numbers), industry or vertical (e.g., insurance, accounting, construction), metro area or geographic area of interest, and any other information you voluntarily provide through forms, emails, or customer support interactions.
Information Collected Automatically. When you access the Service, we may automatically collect: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, pages visited and features used within the dashboard, date and time of access, referring URL, API usage data (endpoints called, request volume, response times), and search and filter activity within the dashboard (e.g., metros, industries, and date ranges you query).
Cookies and Tracking Technologies. We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze how the Service is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling cookies may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes: (a) To provide and maintain the Service, including processing your subscription, delivering Data through the dashboard and API, and sending daily reports and alerts. (b) To process payments and manage billing, including charging your payment method, issuing receipts, and handling failed payment retries. (c) To communicate with you, including sending transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, billing notifications), responding to support requests, and sending service-related announcements.
(d) To improve the Service, including analyzing usage patterns to optimize dashboard performance, identify popular features, and prioritize product development. (e) To personalize your experience, including pre-configuring dashboard filters based on your stated industry and geographic preferences. (f) To enforce our Terms of Service, including monitoring for acceptable use violations, detecting abuse, and managing API rate limits. (g) To comply with legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from government authorities and complying with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Third-Party Business Data
The core function of the Service is to provide business intelligence Data about third-party businesses, including business names, owner names, addresses, phone numbers, industry classifications, and related information. This section describes how that Data relates to this Privacy Policy.
Nature of the Data. The business Data we provide through the Service is collected from publicly available sources. This Data pertains to businesses and business owners, not to our customers. We process and normalize this Data to make it useful for our customers' legitimate business purposes.
Your Obligations. When you access business Data through the Service, you are responsible for using that Data in compliance with all applicable laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM Act, state telemarketing laws, and any applicable data protection regulations. Tripwire provides the Data; you are responsible for how you use it.
Data Subject Requests. If a business or individual identified in our Data contacts us to request correction or removal of their information, we will evaluate the request and respond in accordance with applicable law. We may update or remove records where legally required or commercially reasonable.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers. We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (e.g., Stripe), email delivery (e.g., SendGrid), cloud hosting and infrastructure, analytics and monitoring tools, and customer support platforms. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, or government requests. We may also disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Business Transfers. If Tripwire is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice on the Service before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With Your Consent. We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.
5. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. These measures include encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL), access controls and authentication requirements, regular monitoring and logging of system access, and secure handling of payment information through PCI-compliant processors.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your Account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. After you cancel your Account, we will retain your information for a reasonable period as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and for legitimate business purposes such as maintaining financial records.
Specifically: Account information (name, email, company) is retained for the duration of your subscription and up to 12 months after cancellation. Billing and transaction records are retained for 7 years to comply with tax and financial reporting obligations. API usage logs are retained for 90 days. Dashboard activity logs are retained for 90 days. Raw Data archives (the business intelligence Data we collect and provide) are retained indefinitely as part of our core business operations.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Correction. You may access, update, or correct your Account information at any time by logging into your dashboard or contacting us at info@tripwiredata.com.
Account Deletion. You may request deletion of your Account by contacting us at info@tripwiredata.com. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal information from our active systems, subject to the retention periods described in Section 6. Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period.
Email Communications. You may opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any promotional email. You cannot opt out of transactional emails related to your Account, billing, or the Service (e.g., payment confirmations, security alerts, service changes).
Cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some features of the Service may not function properly.
Do Not Track. The Service does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals from browsers. There is no uniform standard for how "Do Not Track" signals should be interpreted, so we do not alter our data collection practices based on these signals.
8. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may provide you with additional rights regarding your personal information. These rights include the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Texas Privacy Rights
If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) may provide you with additional rights, including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, and the right to opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising or sale. 10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information as promptly as possible. 11. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your country. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and the processing of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
12. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or integrations (e.g., CRM platforms, Zapier). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through or in connection with the Service.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Service at least 15 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
